No Church for the Obamas

More than a full year after taking office and a handful of church appearances, President Barack Obama has announced that he and his family will not regularly attend a church here in Washington.  In an

interview that aired this morning on NBC, Obama said, “What we have decided for now is not to join a single church, and the reason is because Michelle and I have realized we are very disruptive to services."

I don't think that "disrupting" services has stopped many past presidents from regularly attending church.  Although I guess it might be a bit disruptive for parishioners who believe in a different messiah than Obama.

Also, I'm sure it's hard finding a church where you could worship with people like this in public and still maintain your presidential image.  In the meantime, he'll have to rely on the "spiritual guidance" of advisor Jim Wallis, who preaches wealth redistribution as "biblical justice."
