We've seen people at town hall meetings--ordinary people leading ordinary lives--taking stronger stands against Obama's health care overhaul than the Republican leadership on Capitol Hill. We've all read news articles where Democrats and liberal media berate the party and declare it the "party of no." Take for instance today's

The Republican leadership has made a strategic decision that defeating President Obama's health care proposal is more important for their political goals than solving the health insurance problems that Americans face every day."It's a sad day, indeed, when I have to partially agree with Rahm Emanuel, but this is what the GOP has driven me to. I am sick and tired of Republican inaction and wasted opportunities. Get a clue: people in this country overwhelmingly support health care reform, just not Obama's health care reform. If ever there was an opportunity to propose free-market solutions to cure the ailments of today's health care system, this would be it.
Take for instance tort reform--an idea that most Americans could probably get behind (except for Democrats who are content in pleasing their big-donor trial lawyers). But instead of going out to town hall meetings in their home districts and states during this recess to discuss why a GOP plan for tort reform would be a better option, the Party has been left out of the news--the dissent coming from steaming Americans in town hall meetings is MUCH more interesting than anything they have had to say.

Take a quick glance at the GOP's major websites. At the RNC, we get the same old thing: unflattering pictures of Obama and Pelosi, asking us if their plan is "worth the risk." Dear Republicans--even the majority of Independents don't like the Obama plan, let alone party loyalists who frequent your website. But what is the party offering? The second front-page story at the RNC: Barack Obama is a failure. Ideological failure he may be, but at least he's trying, which is more than I can say for you.
The Republicans have a golden opportunity right now and it's not even one they rightfully earned. The fact that Obama's approval ratings have dropped in the past few months has nothing to do with anything the GOP has done. They need to take this opportunity and run with it--quit waiting for the Dem majority to throw you a bone! A proposal on tort reform is sure to be shot down in the legislature, but it will at least give the American people some substantive ammo to take to their town hall meetings... and God forbid during the midterm elections a year from now we have some kind of GOP action we can actually point to and say, "we tried!" Instead, we're left with a laundry list of things we're trying to keep from happening--all important, but not enough these days.

Dems have made it clear that they are willing to "go at it alone" on health care. So I say "go at it alone" on free-market solutions the American people can support! Appeasing the Democrats doesn't just meant that Republicans on Capitol Hill will be left out of the health care debate. Unless the Republicans take some proactive action, millions of voters who didn't vote Socialist in the last election will be left watching as their money and liberty slips through their fingers; all the while, the GOP stands idly by, saying, "We told you not to vote for him."
