The border crisis is still not under control. For the past few months, border apprehensions have soared into six-figure territory. The detention centers were full and with Democrats not willing to help these migrants because working with the Trump White House is anathema, the conditions became deplorable. For weeks, it was portrayed as a manufactured crisis by the anti-Trump opposition press. CNN, of course, was one of the main culprits. Now, with these kids in terrible conditions, Democrats have conveniently forgotten their bellyaching over the border being a 'non-crisis.' Yet, we do have some solid news; illegal border crossings have dropped by 25 percent, thanks to Mexico deploying 15,000 troops to their borders to stem the tide of these illegals trying to enter our country (via WaPo):

Arrests along the Mexico border are projected to fall 25 percent this month, acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin McAleenan said Friday, a drop he attributed to a crackdown by Mexican authorities on Central American migrants and the expansion of an experimental program that requires asylum seekers to wait outside U.S. territory for their immigration court hearings.

U.S. authorities detained more than 144,000 in May, the highest total since 2006. After President Trump threatened to impose tariffs on Mexican exports, the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador agreed to deploy thousands of troops to intercept migrants and prevent illegal crossings from Mexico into the United States.

“It’s become clear that over the past three weeks, since the administration reached a new agreement with Mexico, that we’ve seen a substantial increase in the number of interdictions on the Mexican southern border, and a sincere effort to the transportation networks coming through Mexico,” McAleenan told reporters Friday in Washington.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi caved to Senate Republicans by passing their $4.6 billion border bill, trashing the House version that contained provisions that would’ve hampered enforcing immigration laws. The far left wants these migrants to suffer in order to weaponize the images to be used against the Trump White House. Everyone else is smarter than that. The tariff card that President Trump played was not optimal, but it was one of the last tools he had left to try and deal with this crisis. Democrats, at that moment, weren’t going to give him the money, even as DHS said they were running low on funds to help the people that they had detained. It’s a win for the White House. Now, let’s get that wall built.
