I mean you have got to be kidding me. Is there any day that the liberal media won’t take a swipe a Trump? Nope. Not even on the 75thanniversary of the D-Day landings, which marked the beginning of the end of the Nazi rule in France and Western Europe. President Trump commemorated those who had sacrificed for liberty in this epic feat. His speech was excellent. It was so good that even CNN’s Jim Acosta, known for his anti-Trump antics which has made him a favorite punching bag for this administration and conservative media (and rightfully so), graded the address as an A-plus speech (via Washington Examiner):
Acosta is a leading critic of Trump, but the CNN personality called the president’s speech "the most on message moment of Donald Trump's presidency" on Thursday morning.
Trump addressed a crowd assembled on the beaches of Normandy, the site of the battle that began the Allied invasion to push the Nazi regime out of Western Europe. French President Emmanuel Macron also spoke at the ceremony.
Both leaders made their speeches with dozens of World War II veterans sitting directly behind the podium.
Acosta said the moment transcended politics for the two world leaders and was focused solely on the heroes of D-Day.
"I think this was perhaps the most on message moment of Donald Trump’s presidency today. We were all wondering whether he would veer from his remarks, go off of his script there but he stayed on script, stayed on message and, I think, rose to the moment and as he was talking about those men gathered behind him," Acosta said. "He described them as being among the greatest Americans who have ever lived. I mean, that could not be more of a fact check true if we could have found one."
See, even Acosta knows where to give credit where credit is due. The same could not be said for The Washington Post’s Anne Applebaum, who went on a historical tangent that only a liberal would go on: if Trump had been president during World War II, no D-Day would have occurred. First, these sorts of exercises are just stupid. We have no idea what would’ve happened in terms of how the war effort would’ve been executed, but a British historian quietly took down the whole narrative with a simple fact. Applebaum was noting how Trump’s “America First” mantra echoes of the isolationist sentiment that ran through the United States prior to entering the war. She also noted how Trump has previously bashed our European allies in his past literary works. And all of this to be quietly gutted by a British historian, Kathy Burk of University College London, who aptly noted that the Japanese bombing at Pearl Harbor yanked America into the war and Germany declared war on the United States shortly thereafter. So, to say there would have been no D-Day if Trump were president is just revisionist trash that’s peddled by liberals to make themselves feel better. They cannot stand watching this man succeed. It’s truly pathetic to watch. Obama was a bad president. I didn’t vote for him in either election, but was I glad when we killed bin Laden? Hell yes!

Burk appeared to try and give some credence to Applebaum’s point, but it’s just historically too illiterate. America was bombed into both world wars, as Burk put it. No doubt Trump would’ve joined. He also unilaterally fired missiles into Syria as well, folks, so can we just stop this nonsense about whether there would have been a D-Day or not. It’s just getting way too silly.
