Progressives descended into Atlanta, Georgia to set the action items for their agenda over the next few years. The Washington Free Beacon reported that besides free health care and college tuition, the far left wants slave reparations included in the Democratic Party platform. The publication reported that Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez and former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe attended. So, the progressive left is supporting a plank that blames white Americas who had no hand in the establishment, maintenance, or enforcement of slavery. We’re going to punish the whites; that sounds like a real winner right there (via WFB):
A wealthy Democratic donor club plotting the future of the liberal movement hopes to be fighting for reparations by 2022, according to a document obtained by the Washington Free Beacon from the Democracy Alliance's spring conference this week in Atlanta.
The desire was stated in the invitation for a Monday reception during the annual spring gathering, which was attended by top Democratic Party officials such as DNC chairman Tom Perez, former Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe, and Reps. Raul Grijalva (Ariz.) and Mark Pocan (Wis.).
The reception, "Way to Win: 2022 Victory Party," was presented as a look forward at what's possible if Democrats can be effective in coming elections.
"It's 2022 and we are celebrating policy victories across the nation: Medicare for All and Free College, and next on the agenda is Reparations," the group projected, according to an invitation to the event.
Well, talk about sniffing glue here. Besides this reparations thing, free college tuition, minimum wage hikes, and universal health care don’t register well with voters beyond the progressive base. Democratic operatives have been telling their colleagues and clients this, as the party still struggles to message effectively againstthe president. If just hating Trump is the only agenda, then the Democratic Party will not go far. Voters are not that dumb. If something is too good to be true, it usual is, hence the shoddy voter support for key Democratic initiatives.
