Katie touched upon this yesterday with the bombshell report that the Russians had a—shocker—bribery operation aimed at increasing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s atomic business within the United States, according to the Hill. That entity was Uranium One, which Katie aptly noted gave money to the Clintons during the business negotiations between the Canadian mining company and Rosatom, a Russian state corporation that was attempting to buy a majority stake.
The chairman of Uranium One gave millions to the Clinton Foundation through his own charitable entity during the proceedings, while Bill Clinton was paid $500,000 from a Russian bank to deliver a speech; the bank was selling Uranium One futures. Hillary Clinton, then-secretary of state, was also on the Committee on Foreign Investment, which approves business transactions deemed to be related to America’s national security priorities. The board approved the sale. As a result, Rosatom gained control of Uranium One’s mining sites, which also included those in the United States, hence the review by the committee. One-fifth of our uranium capacity fell into Russian hands. The Clinton angle is bad, but what about Obama? Oh, well, he knew about the whole thing, but swept it under the rug in the hopes of resetting relations with Moscow. He even kept the evidence of Russian bribery and corruption hidden from key intelligence figures in Congress (via NY Post):
It turns out the Obama administration knew the Russians were engaged in bribery, kickbacks and extortion in order to gain control of US atomic resources — yet still OK’d that 2010 deal to give Moscow control of one-fifth of America’s uranium. This reeks.
Peter Schweizer got onto part of the scandal in his 2015 book, “Clinton Cash”: the gifts of $145 million to the Clinton Foundation, and the $500,000 fee to Bill for a single speech, by individuals involved in a deal that required Hillary Clinton’s approval.
[…]
Hillary Clinton, again, sat on a key government body that had to approve the deal — though she now claims she had no role in a deal with profound national-security implications, and during the campaign called the payments a coincidence.
The Obama administration — anxious to “reset” US-Russian relations — kept it all under wraps, refusing to tell even top congressional intelligence figures.
And when the Obamaites in 2014 filed low-level criminal charges against a single individual over what the FBI found, they did so with little public fanfare.

So, is this yet another example of smart power? The policy that allowed Crimea to be annexed by Russia, Ukraine to be hobbled, Yemen to be set ablaze, and Syria to endure the ravages of civil war? Oh, and the deer in the headlights reaction to when we found out that Russia might be trying to interfere in the 2016 election? There’s a word that can describe all of this: weakness.
The editorial board also noted that Robert Mueller, who is now heading the probe into possible Russian ties with the Trump campaign, was the then-FBI Director who knew about these activities. What did he know about this alleged cover-up?
