Julian Assange: The Democrats' Russian Hack Fetish Shows Why They Lost The Election

Okay--Assange really didn't put it that way, but the Wikileaks founder did say that the Democratic Party needs to stop obsessing about the Russians hacks. Assange added that it’s a stupid maneuver for them, one that shows why Democrats lost the 2016 election (via The Hill):

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange warned it would be a "stupid maneuver" for Democrats to continue to hound President-elect Donald Trump for Russian hacking on various Democratic agencies.

“[Y]ou watch. They will seize on this and harp on it for the next four years. I think that's a mistake. I think that's a mistake not just in fact, that's a mistake for the U.S. Democratic Party. I think it's a stupid maneuver. It's the same reason why they lost the election,” he said in a wide-ranging interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News's "Hannity" that aired Tuesday.

“Instead of focusing on substance, they focused on other things which they think are short-term wins, but they're not strategic, a little comment by Trump here and there, for example, or this attempt to say how outrageous it is that the American public received true information before an election.”

Again, for all of you on the Left rolling around in that tin foil, the Russian government didn’t hack the election. Russia didn’t mess with the vote tallies. All we know is that there seems to be some solid evidence that Russian-backed hackers were able to infiltrate the servers at the Democratic National Committee and the email account of Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta. Wikileaks, who still insist that their source isn’t Russian, then released that information. Still, even if Wikileaks source is Russian, this isn’t “hacking the election.” As we noted before, for a hack of this nature to occur, so much foreknowledge would have to have been known prior to the cyber attack in order for it to be successful—and that information was not obtainable.

As investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson noted, in this loony scenario, these hackers would have known that tens of thousands of Trump supporters were going to vote for Clinton. Not possible. Also, the areas where Trump did well in the Rust Belt use paper ballots; you can’t hack those. In Pennsylvania, the election-tallying program for their voting machines isn’t even connected to the Internet. Even the Obama administration has said that the election results reflect the will of the American people, and that there were no spikes in suspicious malicious cyber activity during election night that would indicate an attack. The Department of Homeland Security was monitoring the situation on November 8. Moreover, as The Washington Post noted, it’s almost impossible for the Russians to tamper with the results in the manner the progressive left likes to spew all over social media. The election wasn’t hacked, folks. Clinton just lost. And lost big league.

Besides not nominating someone who is under an FBI investigation next time, perhaps the Democrats can have a serious post-mortem debate as to why they lost, instead of blaming Russia. Granted, I'm not so sure how long that discussion could last before someone starts crying and sprints to a safe space.
