Howard County and Anne Arundel County sent tactical units and armored vehicles. Smith says part of the reason for that is because the heat requires SWAT teams to rotate in and out.

Police say the gunman took four hostages, including a 7-year-old girl. They say that girl is the daughter of a Burger King employee. The other hostages are 17, 25 and 67.

It’s just another incident that highlights the dangers of law enforcement. Further south, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a gunman decided to open fire on police, killing three and wounding four. The shooter has been identified as 29-year-old Gavin Long.
