Earlier this month, Ohio passed a radical amendment to enshrine abortion access in the state constitution and erode parental rights. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican, urged voters to vote against the extreme measure, which Townhall covered.

Shortly after Ohio’s amendment passed, news broke that pro-abortion activists in other states would work on similar measures.

A new poll conducted by the University of North Florida found that the majority of Florida voters would support a proposed amendment to the state constitution that would protect abortion access.

The poll included 716 registered voters, according to WFLA. The initiative, Amendment to Limit Government Interference with Abortion, currently has 492,295 signatures (via WFLA):

According to the UNF poll, 62% of voters indicated they would vote “yes” on the abortion rights ballot measure. More than half of Republican respondents (53%) said they would vote affirmatively.

Earlier this month, a new Wall Street Journal-NORC poll at the University of Chicago found that 55 percent of Americans “say it should be possible for a pregnant woman to obtain a legal abortion if she wants it for any reason.” According to the poll, this is at one of the highest levels on record since nonpartisan researchers began tracking it in the 1970s.

Broken down by political party, 77 percent of Democrats said they will support abortion access for any reason. This is a jump from 52 percent in 2016. As for Republicans, one-third said that they will support abortion access for any reason.

After Ohio’s radical pro-abortion amendment passed, activists set their sights on Nebraska, which Townhall covered.

The coalition, Protect our Rights, submitted the proposed petition to the Nebraska Secretary of State’s office last month, the Associated Press reported. It will need 125,000 valid signatures by next summer to get on the 2024 ballot.

“We’re confident in this effort, and we’re energized,” Ashlei Spivey, the founder of I Be Black Girl, one of the pro-abortion organizations in the coalition, told the outlet. The coalition includes groups like Planned Parenthood Advocates of Nebraska and the ACLU of Nebraska.

Adam Schwend, the Western regional director for SBA Pro-Life America, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that the amendment would eradicate parents’ rights.
