There Are Two Issues With Biden's Peace Deal Statement

President Trump’s Middle East peace plan has even liberal media outlets giving credit where it’s due. Tuesday’s POLITICO Playbook, for instance, had a surprisingly good write-up on Monday’s accomplishment—giving readers “the truth,” which is that the president “deserves the plaudits.” Playbook questioned how many of Trump’s predecessors would have been able to pressure Netanyahu in the way the 47th president did, or get Hamas to this point, or develop friendly relations with Middle East strongmen, or had the guts to bomb Iran. The answer is obvious, of course. Only Trump’s skillset and instincts brought the region to this point. So even as it’s been surprising to see some giving Trump credit, there are others who just can’t go ahead and get to that point. As Amy reported Monday, former Secretary of State Antony Blinken is one of them. Yes, he said Trump and his team "deserve our collective thanks," but he also tried to take credit for the deal. His boss, former President Joe Biden, made similar remarks.

"I am deeply grateful and relieved that this day has come – for the last living 20 hostages who have been through unimaginable hell and are finally reunited with their families and loved ones, and for the civilians in Gaza who have experienced immeasurable loss and will finally get the chance to rebuild their lives," the former president wrote on X.

"The road to this deal was not easy," he continued. "My Administration worked relentlessly to bring hostages home, get relief to Palestinian civilians, and end the war," he said. I commend President Trump and his team for their work to get a renewed ceasefire deal over the finish line. Now, with the backing of the United States and the world, the Middle East is on a path to peace that I hope endures and a future for Israelis and Palestinians alike with equal measures of peace, dignity, and safety."

He caught a lot of flak on social media for attempting to take credit for the groundwork behind the deal, but Jenna Ellis summed it up best: he played no part in crafting the peace agreement or authoring the post on X.
