ICYMI: This Was Obama's Latest Attack on Fox News Viewers

To the millions of Fox News viewers across the country, former President Obama has a message for you: you’re “living on a different planet” than the rest of Americans who tune into mainstream media.

The 44th president made the remark during an appearance on the premiere of Netflix’s new series, “My next guest needs no introduction with David Letterman.”

The comedian asked Obama which he belived was more dangerous to democracy, a president’s demeaning behavior toward the press or a foreign country meddling in U.S. elections. Both questions were quite obviously directed at President Trump.

“One of the biggest challenges we have to our democracy is the degree to which we don’t share a common baseline of facts. What the Russians exploited–but it was already here–is we are operating in completely different universes. If you watch Fox News, you are living on a different planet than you are if you, you know, listen to NPR.”

The jab at Fox News is nothing new for Obama, who repeatedly criticized the network in the past, saying, for example, that the network is “destructive” to the long-term growth of America and claiming the station was “entirely devoted to attacking my administration.”

He also once complained about his polling numbers thanks to the network.

“I am convinced that if there were no Fox News, I might be two or three points higher in the polls,” Obama told a New York Times Magazine journalist. “[T]he way I’m portrayed 24/7 is as a freak! I am the latté-sipping, New York Times-reading, Volvo-driving, no-gun-owning, effete, politically correct, arrogant liberal. Who wants somebody like that?”

His latest comment, however, is the first swipe he’s taken at Fox News since leaving office.

Letterman will interview George Clooney, Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z, Tina Fey, and Howard Stern over the next five months as part of his six-show series on Netflix.
