Conservative Actor Pushes Back on Demands for Gun Control in Wake of Florida Shooting

Conservative actor Adam Baldwin pushed back Wednesday as many on the left—from Hollywood celebrities to political leaders—called for gun control in the immediate aftermath of the mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida.

“[Nancy] Pelosi again demanding gun control. Again, the shooter was stopped by people with firearms,” the actor tweeted.

“Schools need armed security and volunteer staff members with CCW,” he added.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi had tweeted that ‘enough is enough.’

“Too many of these instances take place across the country. As leaders, we have a moral obligation to prevent them and protect our communities. We need more than thoughts and prayers. #EnoughIsEnough,” she wrote.

Other celebs weighed in after the shooting, with comedian Chelsea Handler saying Republicans “have blood on your hands.”

“We have to elect candidates that are not funded by the NRA in November. We have an opportunity to elect candidates who won’t allow kids to go to school and get shot. It is disgusting how many times this has happened and Republicans do nothing. You all have blood on your hands,” she said on Twitter.

GUN CONTROL

“No words, no actions, no laws are enough until we end this epidemic of school shootings in our country. My heart is with the students and parents of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School,” Ellen DeGeneres wrote.

Writer and producer Beau Willimon also blamed the GOP.

“When Will The @GOP Stop Being OWNED By The @NRA And FINALLY Do ANYTHING About #GunControl? Never. Their thoughts and prayers mean nothing. We must replace them all,” he said on Twitter.

“You want taxpayers to spend $25 billion for a wall that will do virtually nothing to keep us safer. Meanwhile you and your party take money from the @NRA to prevent common sense #guncontrol reforms that could actually save lives. Shame,” he responded to President Trump’s tweet expressing his condolences.
