Beth Lindstrom announced she is joining the Republican field of candidates challenging Sen. Elizabeth Warren for her Senate seat.
Lindstrom, who served as a consumer affairs director to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, referred to herself as an “independent-minded Republican” in the video announcing her plans to run.
"Don't get me wrong, there is a time and a place for arguing your point of view," she said in the video. "But eventually, you have to stop the finger pointing and solve the problem."
Lindstrom is a longtime GOP operative in Massachusetts, previously serving as the director of the state's Republican Party. She is the latest Republican seeking to challenge Warren for her Senate seat in 2018.
Warren, who was first elected to her seat in 2012, has emerged as one of Trump's fiercest critics. Speculation has swirled in recent months that the liberal firebrand could launch a White House bid in 2020, though she is planning on running for reelection in the Senate next year. (The Hill)
“Some days I look at what’s happening in Washington and I just shake my head,” she said. “The politicians like to think the problem is all on the other side, but the truth is there’s plenty of blame to go around. We can do better, and you deserve better.”
Lindstrom will face tech entrepreneur Shiva Ayyadurai, Winchester businessman John Kingston, and Massachusetts state Rep. Geoff Diehl in the GOP primary.
A "more formal" campaign announcement will be coming in the fall, she said, "but I want you to know I'm all in."
