On Friday, we learned that the Supreme Court struck down President Trump's reciprocal tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. I liked Kavanaugh, Thomas, and Alito's dissent, but I didn't find what the justices who struck it down thought to be crazy. Trump was pushing his tariff agenda in ways that were sometimes not helpful. Like when he raised tariffs on countries whose leaders he thought were rude. The problem with SCOTUS's decision is that we have no idea how to refund the tariff revenue that has already been collected. How do we return the tariff revenue to corporations that charged consumers the extra tariff money? It sounds crazy, and the logistics will be a nightmare. Trump's tariff plan was not only to raise revenue for the country but to negotiate foreign policy. This will not be the end of Trump's tariffs; he'll just have to find different ways to impose them.
