Since Democrats took over the House after the 2018 midterm elections, House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler has been chomping at the bit to impeach President Trump. After today, he got closer to his chance to do so.
After Robert Mueller made his final statement about the special counsel investigation into the 2016 presidential election Wednesday morning, Nadler made his way to the cameras and declared President Trump has committed a crime.
Given that Special Counsel Mueller was unable to pursue criminal charges against the President, it falls to Congress to respond to the crimes, lies and other wrongdoing of President Trump – and we will do so. Nadler is three words away from "high crimes and misdemeanors."
Meanwhile, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is still balking at the idea and lamented impeachment calls from "a part" of the Democrat caucus.
