The Man Accused of Killing a Florida Police Officer is an Illegal Alien

Last week Florida police officer Adam Jobbers-Miller was shot and killed while responding to an assault at a gas station. After being shot in the head, Miller fought for his life in the hospital for a week and sadly couldn't overcome his injuries. He was just 29-years-old and had been with the Fort Myers Police Department for three years.

The man suspected of his murder is Wisner Desmaret, an illegal immigrant from Haiti. He shot Miller while fleeing the scene. He has a long record of run-ins with local and federal law enforcement. From local NBC2:

It could take months or it could take years for Desmaret to face possible deportation for being in the country illegally.

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spokesperson said that he'll first face any charges from local authorities.

ICE will look into taking him into custody and potentially deporting him when and if he is released, even if that means after a prison sentence.

This isn't the first time that Desmaret was placed on an "ICE Hold."

The Glades County Sheriff's Office said that Desmaret was placed on an "ICE Hold" in December 2008. He was then released to ICE officials at the Krome facility in Miami.

Two years later, in a 2010 booking report, Desmaret was placed on another "ICE Hold," this time in Lee County.

An ICE Hold does not mean automatic deportation.

ICE officials said they cannot comment on Desmaret's case because it is an open investigation.

Desmaret is expected in court today.

Meanwhile, President Trump continues to promote federal immigration officials, officers and agents.
