On Tuesday afternoon, brave women's advocate Hillary Clinton finally broke her silence on the Harvey Weinstein scandal...through a spokesperson.
"I was shocked and appalled by the revelations about Harvey Weinstein. The behavior described by women coming forward cannot be tolerated. Their courage and the support of others is critical in helping to stop this kind of behavior," Hillary's spokesperson said five days after rampant sexual assault and harassment by Weinstein was revealed by the New York Times.
Notice how she failed to mention anything about returning Weinstein's past donations, including his work as a $1 million bundler, to her 2016 presidential campaign and has personally given money to the Clinton Foundation.
Even CNN took notice, with Chris Cillizza saying she was late acknowledging the story. Anchor Wolf Blitzer called the statement, "very short."
The Obamas came out Wednesday, six days after the revelations came to light, and condemned Weinstein."Michelle and I have been disgusted by the recent reports about Harvey Weinstein," the Obamas' statement said. "Any man who demeans and degrades women in such fashion needs to be condemned and held accountable, regardless of wealth or status,” they said. “We should celebrate the courage of women who have come forward to tell these painful stories. And we should work to build a culture — including by empowering our girls and teaching our boys decency and respect — so we can make such behavior less prevalent in the future."
