President Trump Signs Another Bill to Reform The VA

After speaking to the American Legion in Reno Wednesday, President Trump signed the Veterans Appeals Improvement and Modernization Act of 2017, which will allow veterans to appeal or ask questions about their benefits in a more timely and organized fashion.

"No longer will veterans be kept waiting for years to get an answer to their appeals. They will receive timely updates," Trump said during his remarks. "To fulfill our patriotic duty, we must take care of our great veterans."

Earlier this month the White House announced a new initiative that allows veterans to access doctors for consultations online from wherever they are in order to streamline the healthcare process.

The "Anywhere to Anywhere VA Health Care" program uses telehealth technology to cut down on wait times and helps pinpoint the care veterans need.

Congratulations to Secretary Shulkin and the Department of Veterans Affairs on today’s Telehealth Services announcement in partnership with the White House Office of American Innovation. This initiative will improve delivery and access to care for veterans across the country. We must serve those who serve! #Repost @realdonaldtrump @deptvetaffairs ··· Today, I am pleased to announce another historic breakthrough that will expand #VA services to many more patients. We will do this through TELEHEALTH SERVICES. We are expanding the ability of #veterans to connect with their VA #healthcare team from anywhere, using a mobile application on the veteran’s own #phone or #computer. This will significantly expand access to care for our veterans, especially for those who need help in the area of #mentalhealth and #suicideprevention. It will also make a huge difference for veterans in rural locations. And we are launching a mobile app that will allow VA patients to schedule and change their appointments at VA facilities using their smartphones. We are working tirelessly to keep our promises to our Great Veterans. In the past six months, I have signed historic VA accountability legislation. I have signed legislation to extend and improve the Veterans Choice Program. We are working to enable seamless care between the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. We havelaunched a groundbreaking new website that allows veterans to compare wait times and quality of care at VA facilities and other hospitals. And we have dramatically increased the number of approvals for Veterans to see the doctors of their choice. These accomplishments are only the beginning. We will not rest until all of #America’s Veterans can receive the care they so richly deserve. Thank you. #PresidentTrump #USA ????
