NBC: Did Cheney Really Deserve That Heart Transplant?

You'd think NBC supports death panels, or something. Over the weekend, former Vice President Dick Cheney was given a heart transplant. Yesterday, NBC dedicated an entire segment to asking whether Cheney really deserved the transplant, even though he waited for 20 months. The doctor in the clips brings up "ethics" multiple times, but her words imply people should receive transplants not based on the fair process of waiting in line, but chosen to receive them by either the government or doctors themselves.

Speaking of ethics, two weeks ago Guy reported on a new medical "ethics" report about killing babies in the fourth trimester.

Last month...a pair of medical ethicists took to their profession’s bible, the Journal of Medical Ethics, and published an essay with a misleadingly inconclusive title: “After-birth Abortion: Why should the baby live?” It was a misleading title because the authors believe the answer to the question is: “Beats me.”  Right at the top, the ethicists summarized the point of their article. “What we call ‘after-birth abortion’ (killing a newborn) should be permissible in all the cases where abortion is, including cases where the newborn is not disabled.”

The authors also argue that some animals are more entitled to "human rights" than born human babies, and that post-birth abortion is likely preferable to adoption for some mothers because of its "irreversibility."  Putting a child up for adoption might cause a woman "psychological distress," they write.
