Stimulus Turtle Tunnel

Government Waste Project of the Day

Florida employees across the state continue to be laid off due to hard economic times; however, stimulus money is being spent underneath U.S. Highway 27 in Florida to build an "Eco Tunnel," for turtles, alligators, and other wildlife. This tunnel will cost $3.4 million and is part of Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn report that takes a look at the 100 worst uses of stimulus cash which was released yesterday titled "A Second Opinion on the Stimulus."

Coburn's main concerns with projects like the "Eco Tunnel," or turtle tunnel, are whether these projects will ultimately impact taxpayers in a positive way.
