Colin Kaepernick is Awarded with TIME Magazine Cover

Colin Kaepernick, the NFL player who has continued to remain seated during the National Anthem before the San Fransisco 49ers games, has been awarded with a cover on TIME magazine.  He is protesting the flag until society reflects what he believes it stands for.

John McWhorter writes in an article appearing in the October 3rd issue for Time that, “We must understand what Kaepernick is protesting.” He continued: “For one, the idea that to not stand while the anthem is played signals a lack of allegiance to one’s nation is simplistic to the point of stretching plausibility, seemingly designed more as a way to hate on someone than to grapple with the complexities of the real world.”

Republican nominee Donald Trump disagrees with Kaepernick's stance saying that “it’s personally not a good thing, I think it’s a terrible thing. And, you know, maybe he should find a country that works better for him. Let him try, it won’t happen.”
