Pentagon Officials: Guantanamo Transfers Have Killed Americans

A senior Defense Department official was on Capitol Hill Wednesday and told lawmakers that Americans have been killed by prisoners released from the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to the Associated Press

Paul Lewis, the Pentagon's special envoy for Guantanamo detention closure, declined to provide the GOP-led House Foreign Affairs Committee with details.

"What I can tell you is unfortunately there have been Americans that have died because of (Guantanamo) detainees," Lewis said.  "When anybody dies, it is a tragedy and we don't want anybody to die because we transfer detainees."

This was the first time that the Obama administration and Congress debated the purpose and future of the prison since Obama sent his plan to shut it down to Capitol Hill last month.

Do not forget when John Kerry was questioned about Ibrahim al Qosi, who was released from GITMO and has re-joined al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

"He's not supposed to be doing that," Kerry said.
