'They're Never Going to Stop' on Impeachment: Jim Jordan Gets Ready to Move to Judiciary Committee

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), currently the ranking member on the House Oversight and Reform Committee, told Townhall during an interview at the Conservative Political Action Conference his plans on if Democrats are able to keep a majority in the House and try impeaching President Trump again.

Jordan will be moving form the Oversight and Reform Committee to become the ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee, which is the final stop for impeachment articles before heading to the House floor, later this month. If House Democrats are still in charge, Jordan will be on the frontline if Democrats try to impeach Trump.

"They're never going to stop," Jordan said. "Remember, they started before [Trump] was even president. I always say impeachment didn't start in July of 2019, it started in July of 2016 before he was president when the FBI opened an investigation, spied on four American citizens, went to the secret court, the FISA court, mislead the court to further spy on the Trump campaign via Carter Page, lied to the FISA court 17 times. So we know where they started, we know they're never going to stop."

Jordan used the recent example of initial reporting that stated Russia was once again interfering in the U.S. election to get Trump reelected during an intelligence briefing. It was later revealed by CNN there was no evidence to support what was initially reported and that the briefing was misinterpreted.

"So the same thing they did to him in 2016, the same thing they're trying to do again in 2020. So they're never going to stop," Jordan said.

The best way to stop another Democrat impeachment if Trump wins in 2020, Jordan said Republicans will have to use "the truth" as they did with the previous impeachment proceedings. Trump was acquitted by the Senate on abuse of power and obstruction of Congress in February.

When it comes to the abuse in the FISA court system, Jordan said his biggest concern is the double standard being used: "If they can go to try to set up a president, do the things they did, imagine what they can do to us regular folks."
