Workers Asked To Pay Back Bonuses From 16 Years Ago

Because of an accounting error in Lawrenceville, GA, 180 county employees were asked to pay back a total of $39,000 in bonuses that they were given in 1994. Cash payment, or exchanges of vacation time, are both acceptable methods of paying back these guys.

It's true that government workers are generally overpaid, but it seems a little cruel to do this retroactively.
