Why Maine Stinks For The Gay Rights Movement

1. They lost was in New England, where they're supposed to have a stronghold.

2. They outspent traditional-marriage advocates by over 2-1.

3. They poured in man-hours and lobbying efforts from other states, and they couldn't even steal it that way.

4. Democratic Governor John Baldacci had enthusiastically thrown his support behind the law, and was roundly rebuked.

5. They got a little momentum from Washington State, which approved their gay marriage referendum, but no one really cares. Meaning that all eyes are on Maine, and everyone saw them fail.
