Over 1050 retired military officers and conservative critics requested that the policy stay in tact, which was instituted under former President Clinton.Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell acknowledged that keeping the policy wasn't in line with the President's views, but said that there wasn't "any sense" in changing it.
