The Shocking Deportation and Criminal History of the Man Who Attacked Two Oregon Women

Sergio Martinez entered a 65-year-old Portland woman's home through an open window the morning of July 24 and "calmly and quietly" ordered her to the floor. He then tied her hands and feet, blindfolded her, then raped and sodomized her. While violating her, he punched her head into the floor at least twice and threatened to kill her.

After taking her phone, Martinez stole the woman's Prius. The victim went to a neighbor's and called 911. The Prius was found abandoned later.

Martinez wasn't done assaulting women for the day, though. Portland police responded to a call reporting a disturbance between a man and a woman in a basement parking garage. Martinez, armed with a knife, had assaulted another woman.

Not surprisingly, Martinez has a long criminal record dating back to his teen years. He's admitted to court officials that he uses meth and marijuana and has a drinking problem.

He's lived in the Portland area for over a year (when not being deported, sneaking back in the country, or committing crimes in California) and lived in California before that. His California record includes:

2008 – Burglary
2010 – U.S. alien found in U.S. following deportation;
2014 – Parole violation
2015 – Battery, theft, and obstructing a public officer
2016 – Illegal entry into the U.S.

He's also been deported 20 times.

Twenty times.

He was still in the country despite his extensive record because of Multnomah County's sanctuary city policies.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged an immigration detainer against Martinez, asking authorities to notify them before releasing Martinez to allow ICE to take him into custody. The Department of Homeland Security said a detainer was requested for Martinez in December 2016, but he was released into the community and authorities did not notify ICE.

Martinez is now facing include first-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery (two counts), second-degree assault, first-degree sex abuse, first-degree sodomy and first-degree burglary.
