Latinas for Trump Co-Founder Bashes Trump's Mass Deporation Efforts

Florida state Sen. Ileana Garcia, a Republican and co-founder of Latinas for Trump, criticized the Trump administration over its handling of mass deportations.

Garcia’s comments come as Democrats and Republicans debate the administration’s immigration policies. In response to a post on X from Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) Garcia said she is “disappointed” by White House deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller’s actions against migrants with legitimate asylum claims.

“This is not what we voted for. I have always supported Trump, @realDonaldTrump, through thick and thin,” Garcia wrote. “However, this is unacceptable and inhumane. I understand the importance of deporting criminal aliens, but what we are witnessing are arbitrary measures to hunt down people who are complying with their immigration hearings—in many cases, with credible fear of persecution claims—all driven by a Miller-like desire to satisfy a self-fabricated deportation goal.”

Salazar’s post included a statement saying she is “fully aware, and heartbroken, about the uncertainty now gripping Florida’s 27th District because of the recent immigration actions of the Administration.”

She continued, arguing that “Arrests in immigration courts, including people with I-220A and pending asylum cases, the termination of the CHNV program, which has left thousands exposed to deportation, and other similar measures, all jeopardize our duty to due process that every democracy must guarantee.”

The CHNV program is a parole initiative instituted under the Biden administration that gives asylum seekers and migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, to live and work in the United States for two years. Salazar further insisted that “It is an indisputable fact that the vast majority of these individuals fled Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, the three most brutal regimes in our hemisphere and sworn enemies of the United States.”

In another post, Garcia wrote:

Stephen Miller has made it a point to include undocumented minors in foster care, many of whom are victims of human trafficking, in his efforts to fulfill a desperate weekly quota of deportations. These individuals are being picked up at the homes of foster parents. This is unacceptable! Regardless of their citizenship status.

Garcia and Salazar’s comments reflect many who are torn about the issue. A recent poll showed that a majority of Americans—54 percent—support Trump’s mass deportation program, with 46 percent opposing it. But it is worth noting that those who believe the White House is focusing mainly on illegal immigrants who commit violent crimes are more likely to support the president’s efforts. When it comes to illegals who are not dangerous, support for deportation drops.
