Universal Health Care: Canadian Hospital Fights to Remove Baby's Life Support

A hospital in Canada is threatening to remove life support measures for a baby with a deteriorating condition. Life News reports that after a long game of tug of war, the Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario, is trying to remove Joseph Maraachli's breathing tube. His parents want a tracheotomy performed so that he can end his life at home, surrounded by family. Instead, the hospital wants to take him off the respirator, saying that the surgery is 'too risky'.

Moe Maraachli, Joseph's father said, "I do my best for my baby. My son is not a criminal...to just let him die. They are taking my baby away from me."

The Office of the Public Guardian could force removal of the tube as early as today.
