Just In: Sotomayor Made Similar 'Wise Latina' Comment In 1994

This comes from Greg Sargent's Blog via Allahpundit at HotAir. Wow! It's only just begun. Now, before reading Sotomayor's 1994 comment, take a gander at Thomas Sowell's never-say-die remark from his Tuesday column

: "It looked like a done deal a couple of years ago when an amnesty bill for illegal aliens was sailing through the Senate with bipartisan support. But public outrage brought that political steamroller to a screeching halt." But so far, America is backing her nomination.

Here’s what she said in the 1994 speech [Here's the full transcript]:

“Justice O’Connor has often been cited as saying that “a wise old man and a wise old woman reach the same conclusion in dueling cases. I am not so sure Justice O’Connor is the author of that line since Professor Resnik attributes the line to Supreme Court Justice Coyle. I am not so sure that I agree with the statement. First, if Prof. Martha Minnow is correct, there can never be a universal definition of ‘wise.’ Second, I would hope that a wise woman with the richness of her experience would, more often than not, reach a better conclusion.”

For context's sake, here is Sotomayor's 2001 quote [Full transcript]:

"Second, I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

Congress can add this sexist remark right next to her racist remark.
