DWS: Seems Like the GOP Is Rooting for Economic Failure

Sigh. So much cooked-up, rehashed rhetoric, so little time. According to DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on CNN Sunday morning: Republicans are actually rooting for the economy to fail and only care about enriching millionaires and billionaires; the economy is still reeling from the "inherited" policies of the previous administration; and the stimulus was a huge, smashing success. It's nothing we haven't heard before, but it's even more world-wearying than when we were hearing the same messaging two years ago.

I'll simply say this, chairwoman: we are now in the fourth year of Barack Obama's presidency. Please tell us how long, exactly, we are supposed to wait before we start seeing the results of Obama's plans that we were promised? Say, for example, unemployment below 8 percent? Unemployment for March did drop to 8.2 percent, but that's greatly because so many people have dropped out of the labor force. These cheap falsehood sounded a lot more appealing to people in 2009 and 2010, but the time for the "blame Bush" meme is passed. Republicans don't have to root for the economy to fail. It is failing -- as evidenced by Democrats continued unwillingness to assign President Obama the credit for the results of his policies.
