One chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity is making a special effort to give back to military veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan.

This year, from November 4-6, the Winthrop University chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity will hit the road once again in their traditional bike-a-thon, this time to raise money for the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, or IAVA.
The decision to raise money for the troops wasn't just about raising money for charity and giving back to the community; supporting IAVA is personal for PKA fraternity members. ...
Currently, four of the brothers are enlisted in the military, and two of them will deploy to Afghanistan with the Marines in April. PKA decided to donate the proceeds from this year's bike-a-thon to IVA after one of their brothers described how the organization had helped him pay his bills when he came home from Iraq after sustaining a head injury.
"We love our brothers, and we support them, and we just want to show them that we support them," Pi Kappa Alpha bike-a-thon organizer Nick Rogers tells Townhall.
The bike-a-thon route is a 400-mile stretch between Rock Hill, S.C, and Washingotn, D.C. PKA brothers will face bitter cold, aggressive drivers and physical pain, but they feel the trip is nothing in comparison to the sacrifices made by the U.S. troops on a daily basis. ....
