Trade Agreements Finally Going to Congress

The White House has finally sent over several job-creating trade agreements to Congress. The National Journal reports the president called on Congress to ratify the trade pacts "without delay," which is ironic, since they have been waiting on his administration to send the agreements since before the last congressional recess.

Of course, there were political games to play. The Democrats wanted an assistance program to the unemployed extended as part of the trade agreements. The White House ended up sending the agreements after the GOP put on the calendar a hearing so that a vote could be scheduled on the unemployment assistance program known as Trade Adjustment Assistance.
