The Overnight Culture Warrior

What turned a CEO and restaurant mogul into an overnight Christian conservative sensation?

From Townhall Magazine's EXCLUSIVE feature "The Overnight Culture Warrior":

"David Kim is sitting gin his chintzy office cubicle, chatting on a cheapo flip-style cell phone so outmoded it belongs in a technology museum. It's not that Baja Fresh and La Salsa headquarters in Cypress, Calif., lacks spacious corner offices or the funds for smartphones. Far from it. It's that CEO and mega restaurant mogul Kim, perhaps the most humble of culture war heroes, shirks anything and everything that smacks of pomp or pretense. ...

"It's precisely that sort of humility that transformed Kim into the overnight Christian conservative sensation he became when 11.2 million views of CBS's Emmy-nominated television series "Undercover Boss" looked on in slack-jawed amazement as the 42-year-old Kim repeatedly prayed and professed his faith in Jesus Christ.

In one scene, Kim, disguised as a worker being trained as a cashier, prayed with Anthony Abinuman, a 20-year-old whose father left the family, forcing Abinuman to support his mother and four siblings. Kim was moved to tears and says he felt led to pray for the young man.

"The most shocking thing to me was that it was even a big deal. ... I didn't even think about it. I just felt the Spirit move me. So we prayed. This is America--the greatest country on planet Earth! If we can't pray freely here, where can we pray freely?" ~ David Kim in The Overnight Culture Warrior
