Apparently, Senate Thinks We Can Still Afford to Fund Planned Parenthood

Apparently, there are four Republicans on the Hill who feel like cutting $362 million from the budget (that's how much taxpayer money Planned Parenthood got last year) isn't worth the political risk and that your hard-earned money should be forced to fund an organization that kills unborn babies: Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Scott Brown, and Lisa Murkowski.

These four were those Republican senators yesterday who voted against the Planned Parenthood defund bill. There's nothing "Republican" about that. Consider this from the 2008 party platform:

Faithful to the first guarantee of the Declaration of Independence, we assert the inherent dignity and sanctity of all human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed....We oppose using public revenues to promote or perform abortion and will not fund organizations which advocate it.

While parties may claim they don't have litmus tests for candidates, they also put those platforms out for a reason. Brown, the Maine twins, and Murkowski have done an excellent job of showing why they aren't good spokespeople for the party they claim to represent.  There is no room in the Republican party for those who disrespect life. There should be no room in the Democrat party for it, either.

And ANYONE who claims Planned Parenthood isn't about abortions needs to come out of the rock they've been living under. Maine, Massachusetts, and Alaska: Wake up.
