Chris Christie Blasts President Obama: What the Hell Are We Paying You For?

One of the reasons Chris Christie is a resounding political figure in the Republican Party is his ability to articulate precisely why Americans are disappointed with the current administration. Yesterday during a press conference, the fiery New Jersey governor excoriated President Obama for refusing to partake in the bipartisan super committee deliberations purportedly because they were doomed for failure. At a time when America needs a bold and innovative leader, Christie continued, we’re left with an indecisive President who is more concerned about his public image and winning reelection than solving the nation’s problems.

Christie’s essential point, however, is not whether or not Barack Obama deserves the brunt of the criticism, which he does, but that the debt negotiations failed -- and were destined to fail -- in large part because of his conspicuous absence. To be a successful political leader, as Christie has patently demonstrated in New Jersey, one must play an integral role in the legislative process. And as far as I can tell, based on his track record, President Obama would rather be an inactive bystander than a chief executive ready and willing to make tough decisions on behalf of the good of the country.
