Fox News Reporter Mocked For Wearing Protective Vest at Border...But He Had a Good Reason

When CNN's Jim Acosta followed President Trump down to the border earlier this year, he tried to prove his network's narrative that there's no real "crisis" at the U.S.-Mexico border as the commander in chief alleges. With his camera, Acosta showed his Twitter following that there was complete peace and quiet at the section of the border he was touring. In doing so, he unwittingly proved the effectiveness of a border wall.

It looked like a much different scene when Fox News reporter Lawrence Jones III traveled down to the border to film a live segment this week.

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (shocker) and a few media figures mocked Jones for his attire, accusing him of making the border seem more dangerous than it is.

Jones had a simple explanation. The border patrol made him wear the thing.

He even took a picture with the agent who told him to put in on, quoting his exact words, “When you’re with me I’m responsible for your safety. So you’re putting on a vest.”

That explanation was not enough, however. So, addressing the now viral vest Thursday night, Jones told Sean Hannity about the recent gun fights. One gun battle even left 21 people dead.

Then there was the border patrol agent who was attacked by a lawnmower blade last month.

Trump is in Calexico, CA Friday to speak in front of the first completed part of his planned border wall. The threat is so severe that the president has recently threatened to close the border or place a tariff on cars made in Mexico if the latter doesn't start helping with the influx of illegal immigrants. He gave them a "one-year warning." But, before heading to Calexico on Friday, Trump told reporters that Mexico had started to step up.
