UPDATE: Despite the mockery, Acosta is doubling down on his narrative and sharing short clips of local McAllen residents who say their community is completely safe. Again, proving Trump's point?

CNN reporter Jim Acosta, who President Trump, and his associates often spar with, shared a video from the U.S.-Mexico border Thursday as he awaits Trump's arrival. As he walked along a part of the border with a steel barrier, Acosta tried to upend Trump's narrative that there's a "crisis" at the border. To the contrary, Acosta observed, there didn't appear to be any emergency and it was in fact, quite "tranquil." Watch his brief tour below.
I found some steel slats down on the border. But I don’t see anything resembling a national emergency situation.. at least not in the McAllen TX area of the border where Trump will be today. pic.twitter.com/KRoLdszLUu

Well, it didn't take long for social media to respond. As many noted, Acosta just pretty much just proved the president's point.
Jim Acosta just posted one of the biggest self owns ever.

He's walking along the border where there's a wall in place talking about how there's nothing that "resembles a national emergency situation" and "there's no migrants trying to rush."
That's because there's a wall, Jim. https://t.co/qkuWRhxolW

So where there are steel slats, there isn't an emergency crisis. Got it. https://t.co/q5IJcDJZo1

Nice work, Jim. This unfortunate "self-own" comes just a couple days after he was put in his place by White House counselor Kellyanne Conway.
Trump is visiting the border Thursday to meet with officials about the illegal immigration crisis. He continues to spar with Democrats over the necessity of a border wall as we mark the 20th day of the government shutdown.
