Sen. Harris Claims the Dem Walkout of Kavanaugh Hearing Was Not Planned

Several Democratic members of the Senate Judiciary Committee walked out of the room ahead of the vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), who has accused Republicans of taking advantage of the judicial process because they are power hungry, insisted that the walkout was not staged. When asked if they planned to do the same thing come actual vote time, Harris said she had no clue.

"This was so not organized, I don't know," she said.

Should we believe her?

Earlier in the day's proceedings, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) repeatedly demanded they delay the vote until they had a chance to hear from Mark Judge, a friend of Kavanaugh's who was reportedly in the room when Dr. Christine Blasey Ford was sexually assaulted. She claims that the men held her against her will and tried to rape her 36 years ago at a high school gathering. 

"He is a key witness," Blumenthal insisted. "It should be under oath in public. He has submitted absolutely no evidence for any medical reason that he cannot appear.”

Kavanaugh and Judge deny the allegation.

The committee plans to go ahead with the vote at 1:30 p.m. ET.
