South Korean President Praises Trump: Give that Guy a Nobel

President Trump deserves the Nobel peace prize for his efforts in securing peace between North and South Korea, according to South Korean President Moon Jae-in. At their historic meeting on Friday, Moon and Kim Jong-un leaders signed a declaration to mark a formal end to the Korean War later this year and agree to denuclearization.

“President Trump should win the Nobel Peace Prize," Moon reportedly said Monday. "What we need is only peace.”

Moon made the comment during a phone call with Lee Hee-ho, the widow of late South Korean President Kim Dae-jung. Lee had called to congratulate Moon on his efforts at peace, until the South Korean president deflected praise to Trump.

It's not the first time the South Korean leader has given Trump props. In January, he said the U.S. president “deserves big credit for bringing about the inter-Korean talks. It could be a resulting work of the U.S.-led sanctions and pressure.”

Then-Secretary of State nominee Mike Pompeo, who has since been confirmed, secretly met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un over Easter weekend. It was a stunning secret move that received near unanimous praise from the media, noting it was a sign of things to come.

Some newspersons like CNN's Chris Cuomo shared the sentiments of Moon Jae-in earlier this month. If Trump pulls this thing off, he said, Nobel may be calling.

“Arguably, it could be peace prize kind of stuff,” he said.

Trump is planning to meet with Kim Jong-un in the coming weeks. On Twitter Monday, he asked for advice as to where to hold the historic summit.
