Wisconsin Republican Tells State Supreme Court Candidate to Apologize to Brian Terry's Family

Leah Vukmir, a Republican state senator from Brookfield, Wisconsin running for Tammy Baldwin's Senate seat, is calling out a Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate for the company she is keeping on her campaign.

Rebecca Dallet accepted former Attorney General Eric Holder's support in her campaign for the state supreme court. Vukmir said it is unacceptable, considering Holder's refusal to cooperate with Congress during an investigation into the Operation Fast and Furious scandal.

From September 2009 and December 2010, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives allowed individuals working for Mexican cartels to traffic thousands of guns across the border.

The operation had devastating consequences. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed by an individual who got his hands on one of the guns used in the operation.

Holder was held in contempt of Congress for offering misleading testimony on the gun-walking scandal and refusing to hand over relevant documents. If Dallet dares to continue standing next to Holder and accepting his support, she should apologize to Terry's family, Vukmir said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Rebecca Dallet wants to take away the Second Amendment rights of Wisconsin voters and has no problem campaigning with Eric Holder whose failed ‘Fast and Furious’ operation put guns in the hands of violent Mexican cartels and ultimately resulted in the death of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry,” Vukmir said. “Rebecca Dallet owes the family of Brian Terry an apology, and she should denounce Eric Holder for his role in this scandal.”

Townhall Editor Katie Pavlich published a whole book about Operation Fast and Furious in 2012. She brought you last week's report that the DOJ will be releasing and offering thousands of documents related to the scandal to the House Oversight Committee. The Terry family is reportedly grateful the documents will finally see the light of day.

The Wisconsin state Supreme Court election is on April 3.
