Netanyahu Calls Media 'Fake News' For Reporting Hamas Has Recognized Israel

The terror organization Hamas has amended its charter, proving that it now accepts the existence of Israel and a two-state solution, according to CNN and The New York Times. Those media reports infuriated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the point he adopted one of President Trump's favorite nicknames for the Fourth Estate.

"Ever wonder what fake news is?" Netanyahu asked in a new video.

In the original Hamas charter, drafted in 1988, the terror group calls for the destruction of Israel. Media outlets, however, have taken hold of the organization's latest amendment which they say suggests Hamas is moving toward moderation, particularly in terms of territorial deals with Israel. The Jerusalem Post explained that a closer look at the documents proves that the supposed "moderation" is a façade.

However, Hamas makes clear throughout the document that it is not prepared to make such a compromise.

“Hamas rejects any alternative to the full and complete liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea,” the document states.

It also says that Hamas refuses to recognize Israel, as the Palestine Liberation Organization did in 1993. “There shall be no recognition of the legitimacy of the Zionist entity,” the document reads.

Taken together, Hamas’s rejection of territorial compromise and recognizing Israel leaves no room to believe it is moving in the direction of making concessions to Israel.

Netanyahu also saw through Hamas's amended charter.

"Is moving from calling for genocide of all Jews to calling just for the annihilation of Israel, is that progress or moderation?" Netanyahu asked in his video message. "Only if you have no standards whatsoever."
