Trump, Netanyahu Chat About Iran Via Phone After Missile Tests

President Trump called his friend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday to discuss a pressing threat relevant to both countries.

Netanyahu also reportedly thanked Trump for his warm welcome at the White House last month and for condemning the rise in anti-Semitic attacks in the U.S.

Sean Spicer confirmed the call took place, according to reporters at the off camera White House press briefing on Monday.

The two leaders' conversation comes after Iran launched ballistic missiles over the weekend into the Gulf of Oman, even sinking a floating barge. It was the latest in a string of aggressive actions taken by the Iranian regime.

On the first anniversary of his signing the nuclear deal with Iran, President Obama claimed the agreement was a diplomatic success. That is an interesting conclusion. In addition to Iran's ballistic missile launches, the regime captured 10 American sailors last year and is still taunting us about it.

Trump once pledged to rip up the nuclear deal but more recently his administration said they should uphold the agreement, even if it is imperfect.

At the very least, Netanyahu has urged the Trump administration to enforce harsher sanctions against Iran.
