The rumors were true. Hillary Clinton's campaign has confirmed that the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee interviewed with the FBI on Saturday to discuss their impending investigation of her emails.
"Secretary Clinton gave a voluntary interview this morning about her email arrangements while she was Secretary,” Clinton campaign spokesman Nick Merrill said in a statement.
“She is pleased to have had the opportunity to assist the Department of Justice in bringing this review to a conclusion. Out of respect for the investigative process, she will not comment further on her interview."
The two parties met at FBI headquarters for about three and a half hours, according to her campaign. The details of the meeting have not been disclosed.
This interview comes nearly a week after Attorney General Loretta Lynch made the poor decision to talk privately with Bill Clinton for what she says was a "social" meeting. Small talk or not, the FBI was none too pleased with their tête-à-tête, considering the attorney general is supposed to remain neutral during the investigation. Lynch, acknowledging the damage she had done, announced Friday she would step back and accept the investigators' decision as to whether or not pursue charges agains the former secretary of state who used an unsecure private email server during her tenure.
These developments could signal the examination is coming to a conclusion.
