Alabama Gov. Robert J. Bentley (R) has resigned and has been booked into county jail on campaign finances charges. Bentley pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charges and will not face jail time.

Bentley was accused of violating ethics laws in an attempt to conceal an affair.
