Trump Has Been Nominated For The Nobel Peace Prize

Each year, hundreds of people are nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and 2017 is no different. According to the Nobel Institute, 318 people were nominated for this year's award, including Pope Francis, Edward Snowden, the "White Helmets" of Syria...and none other than President Donald J. Trump.

Trump was reportedly nominated by an American for his efforts to bring peace to the world via strength, and for combating terrorism. While the list of the nominees is kept secret for half a century, people who actually do the nominating are free to say who they nominated. Trump is considered to be a longshot.

The Nobel Peace Prize recipient will be announced in October. Last year's winner was Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos. The last American to win the award was then-President Barack Obama, who was the 2009 laureate.
