BBC's "Real Housewives of ISIS" Sketch Has Made Some People Pretty Mad

BBC 2's sketch comedy show "Revolting" has sparked controversy with its first episode, with a sketch titled the "Real Housewives of ISIS." The sketch, which lampoons the various iterations of the Real Housewives franchise, features four "ISIS brides" acting in a lighthearted manner and cracking jokes about matching suicide vests.

It's quite funny and pretty well-done:

So naturally, some killjoys on the internet are upset that...the BBC chose to make fun of terrorists?

Vanessa Beely agreed, writing: "You are utterly abhorrent BBC. You are going to joke about mass rape too or the use of children as suicide bombers or make light of your role in promoting extremism to deceived and abused women.

"Sick, you are truly sick in the head and morally bankrupt".

Waseem Khan said the satire appears to be aimed at the victims of Isil. He wrote: "This isn't funny. I don't mind satire (I enjoy decent satire like 'Four Lions'), but this is a poor effort.

"Not only does it mock the very real oppression suffered by women caught under the yoke of ISIS, it's also very badly written. I mean, its so bad that it makes Citizen Khan look half decent."

First off, just...no.

While young girls (in their teens) have obviously been swindled into joining ISIS, the fact is that a good number of the "ISIS Houswives" are there on their own volition and chose to move to Syria knowing damn well what they were in for. These women should be satirized, mocked, etc. They're cooperating with terrorists.

This politically correct culture has to end. Nobody--ISIS brides or otherwise--is immune or exempt from satire. Laughing at ISIS weakens them. They do not deserve to be treated with respect.

And besides, the sketch was funny. The world needs more funny things.
