Wisconsin Senate Preview: Johnson vs. Feingold, The Sequel

It's a rematch for the ages in Wisconsin, as incumbent Sen. Ron Johnson (R) is taking on Democrat Russ Feingold. In 2010, Johnson defeated Feingold by just under five points to snag the seat for the Republicans. Feingold is back, with a vengeance, and he wants his old job back.

Who is Russ Feingold?: Feingold, a Democrat, served in the Senate from 1993 until his loss to Johnson in 2010. Prior to his time in the U.S. Senate, he served for 10 years in the Wisconsin Senate.

Who is Ron Johnson?: Johnson, a Republican, has represented Wisconsin in the Senate since 2011. Prior to the 2010 election, Johnson served as CEO of PACUR, a sheet extruder company. He can chug the hell out of a beer.

What are the polls saying?: Unlike 2010, this is Feingold's race to lose, and he might just do it. Polls have consistently shown a Feingold lead. In recent weeks, however, his momentum appears to be waning, and Johnson is within striking distance as Feingold's leads have shrunk from the double digits down to a single point. Several recent polls have shown Johnson to be within the margin of error, and he may ride a late surge to reelection.

Prediction: It looks as though Feingold is going to prevail, but this will probably go down to the wire once again.
