Here's What Paul Ryan Gave Up for Lent

During Lent, the 40-day liturgical season that lasts from Ash Wednesday until Holy Thursday, Catholics traditionally give up something as a form of penance or sacrifice. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) released a video explaining that while he typically would give up a food item for Lent, this year, he decided to better himself and improve his character.

Speaker Ryan has had one heck of a year, and was elected speaker of the House at the end of last October. In today's crazy political climate, a bit of anxiety is certainly understandable. Good on Ryan for taking steps to better himself and being honest and open about his character flaws.
