The Role of a Lifetime

The Role of a Lifetime
Mother's Day seems like a good time to remember how much moms mean -- but also husbands, too.

For my part, my life has been blessed in so many ways because of my wonderful, wonderful mother.  She was a strong and elegant woman; because of her example, I always took for granted that it's fine for a woman to have strong opinions and to voice them.  Almost four years after her death, I think of her every single day with love and gratitude.  Now I realize how hard she worked and how wise she was in so many ways.  She made it look easy.

As a mother myself, I am thankful for a husband who supports me in every way as I raise our children.  I appreciate the way he treats me, and the lessons that teaches our children about how a man should be.  I am a stronger, better, happier and more confident mom because of him.

And above all, on this Mother's Day, I am grateful to God for having given me the "role of a lifetime" -- being a mother.
